Satisfied... but HOT HOT HOT!!
The high class stuff in Saigon :-
a. French Dining
Yes the type that serve big plates with small portions of food and you are suppose to eat for 3 hours. We booked in advance and even brought a pair of formal clothes in anticipation. First we do when we reach Saigon is to come here for the French Dining. We were so eager we forgot to change into our formal wear. Lucky they still admit us. Cousin Rain had beef and I had the lobster. Total SGD100.00++
Beef just cooked, red but not bleeding
b. Ice Cream Parlour
This ice cream parlour was featured in one of those websites. Quite near our hotel so we also drop by to eat the ice cream. Especially the heat is about 40 degrees. Ice cream sounds nice. HOWEVER due to the hot weather, the ice cream was 1/2 melted when it reached us. The place also don't have air cond... so you eat with sweat dripping and the ice cream melt faster than you can put in your mouth. Altogether different from what we imagined. But decoration was tasteful and plenty of ambiance. SGD30.00++
Melting Tiramisu
c. Orchestra and Opera House.
Now this is a bonus we do not expect. We was walking walking along the streets and came across the Orchestra House. Noted got performance tonight. Ticket SGD15.00. Not a full orchestra but a quartet performance ( strings- violin, viola, cello and double bass). Since nothing to do, mah buy ticket and besides formal also got bring despite didn't wear for the french dining :)
Surprise surprise, the performance didn't just include the quartet, it also feature the flute with a soprano (yes like Pavarotti only she is female) and to cap off the night go the National Ballet performance too. It was my first time watching a ballet. Very NICE though Cousin Rain start nodding off after the 3rd repertoire. Said the dance are all repeated.
Next the rough and local Saigon.. yes I been to both else I would have came back a snob.
